Windows open, sun shining, fresh breeze filling the space… It’s summer in France and the energy is high. In the kitchen, we’re cooking up classic summer recipes (like the ones you can find in the July/August 2023 magazine) and hosting friends and family for meals out on the terrace.

With every guest that is welcomed for a gathering à la maison, we are reminded that the ambiance of the home is so important. If you’re a subscriber to the magazine, you know that each of our issues feature three home interiors pieces, and we consistently look to these stories and images for inspiration.

Natural Wood & Detailed Serving Ware

We love the marble countertops atop the light wood kitchen drawers and appliances in Florence’s house featured in our May/June 23 issue. Light from the large windows flood the space and her garden reflects the patterned serving dishes on her shelves. Shop natural olive wood cutting boards and antique French plates and serving sets below.

Copper Cookware – Practical Décor

We love the way that copper pans are displayed in French kitchens. One stunning example of copper cooking supplies that could be mistaken for works of art is the kitchen of Arthur van der Straeten’s home in the May/June 23 issue of the magazine.

A more minimalist approach is achieved in Anna Covelli’s kitchen in the March/April 23 edition where metal pots alternate with copper pans above the stovetop. On the MFCH Boutique, you will find a wide selection of authentic French copper pans and cooking spoons to accomplish this creative display of practical décor.

White Porcelain on White Background

From last summer’s issue July/August 22 inside the Mas de Fagas, we love the way that white porcelain is used against the white tile backsplash, giving the kitchen an extra bright and fresh look. Display white pots, jugs, and terrines on an open shelf while you situate a classic Creuset cocotte on the stove, just waiting to be used for a delectable summer meal.

Walls Lined with Paintings

In the July/August 2023 edition of the magazine we are treated to a look inside the Provençal life of David Chicoine whose superb collection of antique paintings helps bring the kitchen to life. MFCH Founder Sharon Santoni handpicks all of the impressive antique paintings that you will find on the boutique sourced from antique fairs and brocantes all around France. Display paintings of flowers like David or cuisine still-lifes for a more literal French kitchen feel.

Mix Modern and Traditional

Modern retro appliances are combined here with unexpected antique touches. From the March/April 23 edition of the magazine, Amandine Berthon achieves a balance of minimalism and traditional country styles with earthy pastel colors and décor including an antique painting and tall candle holders.

Summer Tableware Touches

As for additional summer touches to brighten your kitchen table, there is no shortage of options of colorful tableware on the MFCH boutique. Floral linen placemats and kitchen towels as well as disposable patterned napkins make for great summertime details. The plates and napkins featured in the photos above taken by Sharon Santoni are by Fragonard, but you can find the wicker placemats and similar floral napkins on our boutique.
