Our Favorite French Table Linens

by olivia hoffman

As any creative host and décor aficionado knows, table linens are an important element to consider when creating a French country home aesthetic in dining areas. They can help bring a meal in the kitchen to life or even tie together a grand tablescape.

Here at MFCH, we have had the pleasure of featuring many gorgeous French kitchens and dining rooms in our magazine, digital articles, and social media. Each have given us bounties of inspiration to craft beautiful everyday table presentations in our own homes using locally crafted products from French brands.

When we find items that we particularly love, we are eager to share them with our international community! We will often get in touch with the brand to feature some of our favorite picks on our online boutique so that anyone around the world can access these unique products that are often difficult to track down outside of France.

Read on to discover a small sampling of the local items and French brands we work with. Click the images to shop the products that are shipped directly from our little warehouse in Normandy!

Fragonard Features

You are probably familiar with world-renowned brand Fragonard for their famous scents from the south of France used in their divine perfumes and other body products. But did you know that they also have a colorful collection of home goods? We were thrilled to collaborate with Fragonard this summer to produce a gorgeous tablescape featuring some of their tableware like napkins and plates alongside our placemats and knife rests.

Pops of Floral

Floral table linens are a very popular theme in French country kitchens. We have sourced these 100% linen napkins and table runners in France with patterns featuring some of our favorite blooms – hortensia and dahlia.

Garden Touches

Another fun country-core touch to add to a table are linen napkins with designs of vegetables from the garden! Match the napkins to the food on your plate or to tea towels hanging in the kitchen.

Solid Bases

If patterned table settings aren’t your cup of tea or you prefer to decorate the table instead with pops of color in fresh flowers and food, solid-color table linens provide a perfect base. These sets allow the other elements on the table to shine while tying the presentation together.

Antique Monograms

We have also sourced rare antique monogrammed napkins in pristine condition from a brocante in France which would go wonderfully with solid color settings. Check the website to see if there is a set of initials that may have been made for you or someone you know!

Quality Single-Use

Françoise Paviot is a unique French brand specializing in high quality single-use table napkins that have the appearance and texture of fine linen but with the convenience of disposability. We are pleased to offer an array of creative designs in a variety of colors.

Their products are guaranteed to bring a smile to every seat. Disposable napkins are perfect for a large gathering and each pack will bring a different aesthetic to the table – a simple way to switch up the look and feel of the arrangement. The soft, flexible, and tear-resistant napkins are created by the family-owned company based in Lyon. Made from compressed cellulose fibers, Françoise Paviot products offer superior strength and absorbency compared to standard paper napkins – and they’re much more fun!

Jacquard Cotton Weave

Finally, a table linen brand that meets the luxurious standards of linen but is actually made of cotton is none other than Le Jacquard Français. LJF is a remarkable French heritage brand that has been committed to the artful preservation of the technique of jacquard weaving for over 130 years. We are proud to carry a set of their napkins and table runner on our online store featuring an intricate weaving where fruits and ornamental motifs of Provence are intertwined.
