Paris is filled with curiosities, but few form part of the city’s landscape. One such case is les bouquinistes de Paris (booksellers of Paris), who can be found along the banks of the River Seine selling treasures from the past. A classic vision in the capital, these booksellers are distinguished by their lockable, regulation green metal boxes that open up into displays for antiquarian books as well as prints, posters and artwork.

Like so many others, the global pandemic and travel restrictions hit the bouquinistes hard, and like everyone else, they have had to adapt to the new normal. Unheard of before, some have even set up websites – such as bouquinistesdeparis.com – for them to sell their rare, ancient wares online.

Below, enjoy some of the gorgeous photography – by Parisian Moments photography duo David C Phillips & Georgianna Lane – from our full feature on les bouquinistes in our September/October 21 issue of My French Country Home Magazine!
