The Château de Versailles, also referred to as the Palace of Versailles, was the royal residence of France from the late 17th century (under Louis XIV) until the French Revolution (then under Louis XVI). The famously gilded property, which is both a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the second-most toured historical monument in Île-de-France, receives a whopping 10 million visitors a year.
