In her new book, Practising Parisienne, journalist and blogger Marissa Cox decodes life in the French capital. A British ex-pat who moved to Paris eight years ago, this part memoir part lifestyle guide reveals everything she’s learned about fashion, beauty, interiors, dining, love, what it really means to be Parisienne and more. Complete with tips and interviews with well-known Parisians, it will inspire you to live your best Francophile life.
Practising Parisienne is featured in our Sep/Oct 2021 issue’s “MFCH Book Club.”
An expert on the capital, Marissa shared with us her favorite Paris addresses to shop for the home!
For Furnishings & Accessories: Merci
Merci is my favorite lifestyle shop in Paris and has become my go-to for linen bedding, ceramics, glassware and accessories for the home. I can spend hours perusing the various floors and always tell friends to visit on their trips to Paris.
111 Boulevard Beaumarchais, 75003
For Furniture: La Manufacture
La Manufacture is a new-ish concept store inspired by French and Italian aesthetics that combines fashion and design. I went to the launch dinner back in July and love the highly curated modern and design-lead furniture pieces that they’ve cherry-picked to stock in-store.
3, rue Édouard VII, 75009
For Candles & Home Fragrances: Trudon
I have a soft spot for Trudon, not only because it is France’s oldest candle brand (founded in 1643 in the reign of King Louis XIV) and creates the most exquisite scents, but also because I was lucky enough to visit its factory last year to witness how the beautiful pieces are made.
18 rue de Seine, 75006
For Art & Decorative Objects: NOUS
Nous is a boutique championing ceramics and craft objects. They have a beautifully curated selection of unique pieces that help add a personal and artisanal touch to the home!
19 rue Clauzel, 75009
For Kitchen Supplies: La Tresorerie
I used to live around the corner from this place, and I don’t think a week would go by when I wouldn’t pop in to see what they had in store. It offers a beautiful selection of Scandinavian-inspired pieces, which are perfect for creating a calm and minimal home.
11 & 8 Rue du Château d’Eau, 75010
For Home Inspiration: Atelier Vime
I adore everything about the beautiful world that is Atelier Vime, which constantly inspires me. It’s a revived 19th-century wicker workshop, but the 18th-century hôtel particulier that houses the studio is equally enchanting and magical.

For Antiques: Selency
Selency has become my online destination for unique, vintage pieces and antiques. I’ve already bought quite a few items from the online marketplace and have a huge wishlist. I interviewed the founder, Charlotte Cadé, for my book.
52 Rue de Rivoli, 75009
