Welcome to the March/April 2026 ‘Special Antiques’ Issue!
As spring approaches and we welcome the season of renewal and discovery, we’re thrilled to announce the release of Sharon’s latest book, The Art of Antiquing in France. In that spirit, we have devoted this issue to French antiquing.
Antiquing is about so much more than beautiful objects. It is about atmosphere, instinct and stories passed quietly from one generation to the next. We’re delighted to share with you here a sneak peek at what you can expect to find among the pages of this very special edition of My French Country Home.
Antiquing Behind the Scenes
We give an introduction to one of our favorite antiques fair, La Foire de Chatou, which takes place every year in March and October, just outside Paris, and also share travel tips for visiting L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, Provence’s antiquing mecca.
We also take you backstage for a tour of the Lyon atelier of Aldo Peaucelle, a restorer of antique paintings, and discover the fascinating history connecting Russia’s House of Fabergé to France.
Displaying Antique Finds
Muriel and Marco, artisans who bought a 12th century property in the Auvergne, show us how they incorporated unique antique finds into their stunning renovation. Meanwhile, photographer Eric Sander guides us through Château Champ de Bataille, the sumptuous home of the renowned interior designer and collector, Jacques Garcia.
Looking to the future, Tish Jett talks with her brocanteur friends about how younger generations are rediscovering antiques.
Indulging in Spring
As winter melts away, we’re eager to explore outdoors. Take a restorative stroll through Burgundy’s Jardin de Soussilanges and bathe your senses in roses and birdsong. Or get inspired to bring spring indoors with Sharon Santoni’s fresh tulip bouquet and hand painted eggs.
For the kitchen table, we have recipes from a new cookbook by the owner of the iconic Bistrot Paul Bert in Paris and some new Easter dishes from our friend Franck Schmitt.
Here’s an in-depth look at a few more of this issue’s particularly exciting features…

Portfolio: The Consummate Collector

One of France’s most celebrated living architects, Jacques Garcia is known for a darkly opulent, history-driven style that transforms collecting and interior design into acts of extravagant devotion. For 30 years, Château du Champ de Bataille has served as both his residence and a living monument to the country’s rich cultural heritage. Take a tour through his magnificent home and collection in this issue’s Portfolio photographed by Eric Sander.
Artisan: Mending Masterpieces

In a vast, light‑filled atelier in Lyon, discreetly tucked away from the city’s bustle, works one of the world’s most respected experts in the restoration of paintings: Aldo Peaucelle. Take a tour through Aldo’s workshop and get a behind-the-scenes look at this incredibly skilled trade from a veritable expert.
Interior: Turning Back Time

After a brief stay in France early in their relationship, a pair of Dutch artisans longed to return one day and restore a historic property. Decades later, they found the château of their dreams near the medieval city of Moulins in the Auvergne, transforming it into a home, as well as a guest house and event space. See how this couple revived this 12th-century château.
