As spring approaches and we welcome the season of renewal and discovery, we’re thrilled to announce the release of Sharon’s latest book, The Art of Antiquing in France. In that spirit, we devoted this special issue to French antiquing. We introduce the major antiques fair just outside of Paris, La Foire de Chatou, and share travel tips for visiting L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, Provence’s antiquing mecca. We tour the Lyon atelier of Aldo Peaucelle, a restorer of antique paintings, while artisans Muriel and Marco show us how they incorporated unique antique finds into their stunning renovation of a 12th century property. Meanwhile, photographer Eric Sander guides us through Château Champ de Bataille, the sumptuous home of renowned interior designer and collector, Jacques Garcia. Looking to the future, Tish Jett talks with her brocanteur friends about how younger generations are rediscovering antiques.
